What is Black Friday?

Since 1932, it has been seen as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the U.S. with most major retailers opening very long before usual opening times and closing long after. A day when everything is on special… and I mean everything, this is the first release of many products and a sure day for retail success. Called Black Friday to reflect the black marked in the stores ledger, this is a day when the shops break even and make incredible amounts of sales. A day that has spread across the world, what is Black Friday? While in America it has a more intense atmosphere, the craze has slowly spread to South Africa. With shops offering insane specials and deals, all within a short time, it is now a known day inspiring as much crazy retail behavior as in the U.S.
